Hello all, I wanted to share something I have been working on... probably for the last few months. Personal design always seems to take forever, especially when you have client (AKA paying) projects squeezing out personal projects.Just wanted to get some opinions on a redesign of my current site, falkencreative.com. This is a JPG image of the redesigned homepage only, since I want to settle on the design before I start coding. I realize that this is primarily a forum about the coding side of web design, not the design part, but I'd like any feedback I can get -- positive or negative. Any opinions on what I have so far? It is designed for 1024x768 resolution, which may be a problem for some, but this was chosen based on my visitor stats and what I have read on the subject of choosing a screen resolution. However, if anyone wants to convince me otherwise, feel free to comment. I also realize that the site is probably a bit too wide and complicated for viewing on mobile phones and non-computer screens, but I am not really sure how to go about dealing with that at this point. http://dev.falkencreative.com/falkencreative.jpg ---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative |

Well, it's not very good. I mean, I think you can do better than what you have. I think you should ditch that and go with some kind of template listed on Webshapes. Pss! Now since you are going to ditch that mockup...let me have it!!! I think it's very well done. ---------------------------------------- Success is based on how much you spend. I almost believed you for a second there... Anything negative to say though? I'm pretty happy with it, I'm primarily looking to tweak any final details. Usually the minor things take a site from being simply "good" to "great".---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative |

I think is real nice - Good job Ben! Sort of despresing actually (for me that is). I need to take a photoshop class or something. I'm still just learning how to turn the thing on. So sad :~( ---------------------------------------- Eric :~) Knowledge is Power |

I like it ---- 2 thoughts - I'd like to see the background something other than just plain white - doesn't have to be anything fancy, but enough to look like it's part of the page, not just the table you tossed it on. Even just a light shade of some color that goes with the theme. AND I would prefer to see things centered. I'm only viewing with 1280 width, and I have a lot of nothingness on the right side of my monitor - it'll be even worse for those who view at 1600 or higher. ---------------------------------------- ... |

The layout will be centered and the header/footer background will be stretched the full width of the page -- sorta like my current site (http://www.falkencreative.com ). This is simply a JPG example for now. I'll remember your comment about the white background and see what I can do. ---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative |
