confused How to save a flash website?

Dear everyone;

i was wondering, is it possible to save a flash animated website into my harddrive.

For those who are ethically questionning this action please dont worry. I am carrying out a user study (as part of my Masters degree). The user study will involve a number of websites (some of which are flash animated). But I need to keep the website static over my subjects. I therefore need to save it just to make sure that it doesnt change while i am carrying out my user study (which will take 20 days).

Can someone explain how to save a flash website confused ?

Thank you

Re: How to save a flash website?

So you want to save someone elses web site to your HD?

Not sure you can. Mostly I would have to suggest you use the tools in your menu bar of whatever browser you are on. Most will save web sites/pages to your HD from the Menu. Course you can check your Cache, if it is a full flash move/site, then it may already be in the Cache.

Full flash web sites are almost impossible to update, so odds are they will not be replaced/updated in the next 20 days. Another reason i do not like Flash. few people use external content with Flash yet.

Re: How to save a flash website?

Hi

You'll need to view the HTML source of the page that the flash is contained within and look for the .swf (or .fla) file.

You then need to re-construct the URL of the file. Look at the address of the website ie. www.domain.com. Then append this with the link you found in the source (say "content/movie.swf"). The example would therefore make:

www.domain.com/content/movie.swf

Paste this link into a download manager and download it. Pasting it back into the browser would just play the file.

i have tried what u advised bt it does not work.

for example i want to save: http://www.nike.com/freeeurope/

i have cleared my internet temporary files and loaded the page into my IE. the cash doesnt contain any flash files confused which is kinda weird !!!

Unfortunately i cant reply on the assumption that flash websites do not get updated every couple of days. because if it does change, my whole experiment will be useless.

How would you work this out? http://www.nike.com/freeeurope/

please ve a look at the html file. reconstructing the URL in this case seems to be complicated. crying

Any idea how this might be solved ?

Re: How to save a flash website?

The URL I found was:

http://www.nike.com/freeeurope/base_movie.swf

I managed to download it, but doesn't do much - it must load another file or files, but there's no way of getting these. Sorry. sad

Re: How to save a flash website?

seems like java script loads some parts of the whole movie. It will take a little while to get them all.
