Hi, I've put up a pre-release (beta) of the new killersites.com website (only one page) and I am looking for comments: http://www.killerphp.com/ks/ ... This is not complete but I wanted some feedback on the overall design and color scheme. I've tested in on ie6, ie7, Firefox PC and Mac and Safari Mac. I would validate it on the W3C validator if anyone actually surfed the Web with the validator. But since no one does ... - Note: I will be taking this down within a few days. Thanks again. well we always validate when somebody asks for the review I like the layout on the whole. I would choose another color for the links and make them change the color on hover (or change them background color on hover as it is "hot" now). For some reason the K logo reminds me one of the Adobe or Macromedia logo but may be because it is looking just fine .---------------------------------------- My blog |

I think it might look better if the gray shade of the background color was more like any of the grays used in the logo and WD background graphic. I don't like the default-blue links and agree with lm, a hover would be good. Don't like the brownish-orange of the titles, it's a bit boring and dingy-looking. The bright and fresh-looking orange of the hover image for the navigation is better, but does not match the title orange. ---------------------------------------- ... |

"For some reason the K logo reminds me one of the Adobe or Macromedia logo ..." Well, I have to admit that the Wd logo is a total rip off of the Adobe stuff .. total! I will probably not keep that in place because it is too close to Adobe .. - That said, I've used that style of logo in the past with killersites.com... before Adobe had - but that's another story. As for the new killersites.com logo, yes it looks like the adobe stuff to a certain extent but for the fact that they don't use the negative text thing ... if you look at the logo, you will notice that the K is not whole. And finally, yes, hover states for the links is a must as is a change in the title colors. Thanks, Stef ---------------------------------------- Stefan Mischook Video Tutorial Store | Web Templates |

I'm testing in Firefox 3 beta 5. Not bad at all - very clean and modern. A few points however: It's too narrow. It's a fluid width layout I notice, but in 800x600 the right column is just too narrow. Perhaps the left column is too wide? The paragraph text is too large by default. 60% size would be much better. ---------------------------------------- Pavonis Mons | Listen of the week: "Residue of Desire" by Acumen |

I will give your text suggestions a try. That said, did you know that 800x600 now has less than 3% use! .. On killersites.com that is. That's a sample of about 300 000+ visitors a month. So now I am inclined to target the most 1024x768 ... Stef ---------------------------------------- Stefan Mischook Video Tutorial Store | Web Templates |

I still like the logo a lot. And I like this new layout. I agree with Tim about the default size of the text. A little smaller would look nice. My only other suggestion would be about the main background. I think a little more color would look nice. Either that or maybe lighten up the content background. There's a lot of gray right now. Nice job! |

I agree with Susie. It looks dreary. In addition, I'm missing that ol' frog. I really think it should be or showhow super imposed within the logo such as maybe having the frog behind the name with a certain transparency or have it located within the box (transparent of course)? I think you should set your site to be 1024px (maybe about 960px). I think the top menu hover is a bit much because of the orange. Maybe have the background color a darker green on hover with the text being orange (on hover)? I think the left column is too wide. If you are going with 1024 then you should try to make your main column about 700-750px and the left column about 200-250px. I don't like the Wd logo or whatever it is. It just doesn't make sense to me. That's my two-bits worth. ---------------------------------------- Success is based on how much you spend. If it's not money, then the alternative is your time. I thought we had all blackmailed you into keeping the frog!? "I don't see in maan!" (Lamaican accent please) The green is a bit... let's just say it gives me flash backs of Basic training and just about any military barracks I lived in... pea green is said to have calming soothing effect... your site makes me want to start poliching the floor with highly flamable wax and spit shine my tennis shoes. The grey is a bit off as Thelma I believe said. Like the menu and the little arrow part pointing down. Some of your ists could be Definition Lists, like the "Other killersites sites" part. This will break up the repetetive look of multiple lists and you use the link as the DT and the DD can be a quick explanation of what that site covers. The frog is missing. ---------------------------------------- Gu.aal kwsh yak'i itakw ijeet wugoodk LSW-WebDesign.com |

Hi, Based on your suggestions, I've updated things on the new design: http://www.killerphp.com/ks2/ What's new: - reduced font size. - added more width to the layout - should help with 800X600 - change the logo color so it is punchier - added a bar at the top of the page Let me know what you think.
