Topic: Web Design Contracts

Every so often, we get questions regarding web design contracts. If you are a freelancer, should you have one? When should you have one, or when not to have one? What should it say? How best to protect yourself should an unfortunate situation occur?

I ran across this article today by Andy Clarke on the topic of web design contracts, which was quite interesting and informative. Take a look:

Anyone else have links to articles that discuss design contracts? Post a link here, and I'll add it to the sticky.

Re: Web Design Contracts

I created a podcast on web design contracts recently.

... If you can stand to hear my voice, it might be a worthwhile listen.

Re: Web Design Contracts

Here's my Web Design Contract. And here's my Website Creation Worksheet. Feel free to take and use them. Both are partially combined from a few different sources, but most of it is mine, written in my own words. My goal was to write each in a human, and easily readable way. Trying to veer away from that incomprehensible legal mumbo-jumbo that you'll find elsewhere on the web. I believe both turned out real nice! smile

I've been using proposal kit for a couple years for the various types of contracts and agreements. It is worth checking out and is reasonably priced.
