Topic: Shape now a Path?

G.E everyone,
For some reason - when I use the rectangle tool - instead of going on the layer - it becomes a path? Where did I error? I was making selections earlier with the pen tool - and unlike before - (a shape would go on the new layer) - this is now not the case?

Still head scratching as always...

With the Rectangle Tool selected, double check your toolbar, and make sure the first icon is selected (marked in red) rather than any of the others. If you have the second one selected (like I think you might) you'll get a path instead.

Not sure what version of Photoshop you are using... It may not look exactly like this. I'm running CS4.

Thanks Ben. I will check this when I get home. I am using CS4 also - and I indeed did forge to de select the path.
