.fla to .html publishing - Code Question

Hi,

I am having this tiny issue - nothing major.

I just finished designing a website, and published as HTML, however after uploading it to the server and running it over the web, it does not display the Header I would like it to be at the top of say for example Internet Explorer. It kind of worked when I edited the published HTML file and changed the header from index to the the preffered, but the website did not load. Now I did scour the HTML code in the Flash file to see if I can find that "index" header and change it, but with no luck. I am not sure if this is a Flash related query or a 3rd party or external query, as I know you can change the name of the published files before hand. I am using Flash Pro CS3.

Any suggestions or help of some kind would be really appreciated. This is my first Flash website, I normally only do HTML. I did look at some turorials, but could not find anywhere where it covered this.

Cheers

PDF Link in Flash Website - Help Please

Hi,

I am wanting to know if possible, and how to, add a link under a menu in Flash, so that when clicked on it, it open a .swf or .pdf document, forexample if you clicked on a hyperlink in a HTML website, it opens up a .pdf document. I have tried and searched for a solution online for the last 3 weeks, and is quite frankly fedup searching. I have tried creating a button and then inserting "Download PDF". I have tried to drag and drop the .swf documents, but then it is all over the place. Like I said, all I would like to do is have the name of the document, then as soon as someone clicks on it, it will either open up the swf or pdf or ask what they would liek to do. Even if I have to convert the pdf's to another format if swf is not useful, then that would so help me out heaps too.

Cheers

hello all
my company has charged me with the task of making several "videos" in flash. no so difficult...you can see one here
http://www.guybrown.com/download/GBM_overview.swf

That was all find and dandy til they wanted play/pause/scrub features too. we had a deadline to meet, so i paid and arm and a leg for another company to add the play/pause feature. you can see it here:
http://www.guybrown.com/download/PPG/ppgtut.swf

i know this is probably a simple process. does anyone know of a tutorial on the subject? my understanding is that you convert the swf to a flv then load it into a player. is this correct? if so, what converter should i buy? if there is a different way, please let me know, i'm open to all suggestions.

this will be an ongoing request, and i need to understand the process. any help will be greatly appreciate, i'm a fast learner.

I am working on an XML template that has a button that allows the site to resize and go full screen. This has disastrous results. WRONG. :( How do I safely remove this component?

I am happy to announce our new Flash CS4 video tutorials are finally ready! It only took me a year to get Santo (the author of the video tutorial course) to finally do it – better late than never I suppose.

Anyway, it's a good one and you can check out free sample videos here:

http://www.killervideostore.com/video-courses/beginners-flash-cs4.php

Some bullet points:

    * Learn Flash in easy to understand bite-sized videos.
    * Learn how to use Flash's new bones tool.
    * Learn the key to Flash animations: Symbols and Movieclips
    * Download the videos as many times as you need - there is no time limit!
    * Buying the DVD gets you the download for FREE, so you can start right away while you wait for the DVD to arrive.

Thanks,

Stefan

JavaScript and ActionScript playback control

Hello all,
I have an HTML page created using Dreamweaver CS3 which contains a SWF movie produced with Flash CS3 (movie duration 9min57secs).
I have deliberately excluded the addition of a skin and the movie is placed in a ‘Pause’ condition when the page opens.
Within the HTML I have a Javascript function which produces a duration value 'x'. (which is an integer of milliseconds)

My requirement, and my problem, is that I wish to pass this duration value to the Flash video in such a way as to instruct the video to ‘resume’ play and then (after 'x' milliseconds duration) pause the playback and await the next ‘resume’ instruction from Javascript.

I am aware that Javascript and Actionscript can pass instructions to and from one another using ‘ExternalInterface.addCallback’ and ‘ExternalInterface.call’, however, all the tutorials and forum examples I have viewed to date only show how to pass text, or to run a very short video to its end and invariably they all involve the use of a button to instigate the function.

Can anyone direct me to, or provide, an example that performs the functions I have described above.
I hope someone can help me.
Thanks.

SWF video

Hello all. I am new here :)

I sometimes stumbled to a web page that has SWF video on it. Something like this:
http://www.esignal.com/ads/esignal/default.asp?CPID=KNC-O6O174466501
or this:
http://www.livefaceonweb.com/

Logically, I think all I need to do is produce a video, then convert it to SWF. If that is the case, then would it be able to be interactive? Like the first link above, after the lady spoke for a while, we can actually click on the links behind her.. How is this possible? Does anyone has experience with this? Are those 2 separate SWF files, with 1 being video and 1 being the interactive?

The reason I asked because I'm planning to do this kind of project, and now stuck with experimenting.

Thanks before.

G.A forum,

Another question from Brian......

I tested a page in IE, FF, Safari and Opera. All is dandy in the latter 3..but good 'ol IE - the animation will not play. It states an updated version of Flash is required. I have Flash 10 installed on my Computer (FF - Mozilla). Do I have to go into IE and download Flash 10 from that browser? Once again confused..

flash intro template help

I am very new to the world of "flashing" and "swfing". We purchased a flash intro template for our comany web page. I was able to intstall it and it works great. However, I need to put a skip intro option before the flash starts loading. My question, do I do this in the .fla file or the .swf file and what exactly are the differences. I thought that maybe the .swf was the executable for the .fla but some things I've read indicate that you can change the .swf file without changing the .fla file. Did I read that correctly. Any help would be great. thanks
