Validation errors

I just validated the html of a website of mine and found a whopping 152 errors! After my jaw had stopped bouncing on the keyboard, :o, I discovered that almost all were due to "Nonstandard SMGL characters 147, 148, 133, etc. These were ordinary quotation or apostrophes within normal
paragraphs.

My doctype is as follows, and is something I just copy-paste as I don't really understand what the gobbeldygook means!

Is this a setting on my computer that generates improper characters?

I received the text from the client as Word documents, which I then copy-paste into notepad for HTML coding.

Another Layer Issue

ww w.koo lertek.com

The issue is IE6 this time.

When you first load this page, you can see the arch just under the header which displays a splash (not flash) placeholder of a product and details. Once the page is fully loaded (loading the png fix is what it's doing) you will notice that it goes under the actual header wrap.

The splash is position absolute and it works fine in all other browsers except IE6. Somehow the spash goes under the header but I am not sure where I might have missed something. I added a red border for id="splash" so you can see that the entire border first appears and then it get lost behind the id="hb-right"

Eventually there will be a flash but I need to be able to resolve this first.

Thanks.

ww w.koo lertek.com/computer-parts/pc/Lamptron-Slow-Flashing-RingPuk-Random-Colors-205p1149.htm

Hover over the left nav and you will see that it goes under the youtube flash. I have set some z-index to no avail.

Any suggestions would be grateful.

Notice the white space in the value link - I'm confused? If I remove the white space, or add underscores, or download the swf, change the name, and link to it myself, it does not work. Only that setup above works. Why is that? Thanks!

They're using swfobject. Is that a function of it?

Kinda New.. Please Help

Hello everyone!

Well, it has come time for me to spread my wings and be my own boss. I have purchased a new domain for my business and have looked all over the internet and found the flash template that I want to use:
http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/22754.html

So I have downloaded this template and have all sorts of files I am not sure what to do with. I have been working on the sourse code itself and editing the existing information ie: company name, etc... These files are "tfile_main.xml, form05configuration.xml and form05structure.xml. There are more files that I am sure I need to edit, but what I am wondering is after I edit all this information how do I get it to work on my site?

I have uploaded some files to test, but nothing shows up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Site in two languages

Hello,

A client wants his new site to be bilingual, meaning that he wants a "magic" button at the top of the banner saying "English version" (the site is originally in Spanish") and viceversa which changes the content of the whole site automatically in just one click. What would be the best apporach to achieve this? Do I have to create everything twice, or create like a parallel site?

Thanks

How to make a "full-browser" website?

So, I've started learning HTML/CSS for my next website project... I'm not sure if this is an HTML or CSS issue, feel free to move it.

Take a look at http://www.anglianwater.co.uk/. Notice how the header and background image extend to the ends of your browser (when maximised).

How did they do that?

Right now my websites have a set height/width, and if there's any room left in the browser it's just a white background (http://www.all-water.org/Home.html).

Edit - after looking at the source I think it has something to do with "width=100%". But I'm still confused as to how the header image repeats like that.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.
