HTML EDITOR

Hi Everbody, this is my first posting

I am learning HTML and so far have been using notepad only

I opted against the idea of buying a ‘full on’ web page creator, such as Dreamweaver due to (a) cost (b) my amateur / learner status as well as (c) the learning effect of actually hand typing in of the <tags>.

Now I am getting there, so to speak, I fancy a text editor to help a bit, but still leaving the opportunity for direct HTML / CSS input. Another reason, is that having coding in different colours is always useful

Do any readers have thoughts on the numerous free / cheap programs that are available.

CoffeeCup is one option which keeps coming up on the internet, but how good is it

Are there any better options

Nothing fancy is required, and free would be nice.

THANKS IN ANTICIPATION FOR ANY ADVICE !!! :)

I finally did it, I bought a macbook.

What is the best text editor to use for coding websites? And any other suggestions for software would be appreciated.

I can get a really good deal on Dreamweaver and Photoshop and will probably get them.

Thanks,

Eclipse - having problems

Hello,

I just recently bought the vid tutorial on making a shopping cart, hosted by Jon Lebensold.

Early in the Tutorial, Jon advises me to install "eclipse". Well, I have it installed.

Jon says to click File - New - PHP project. I enter the project name (I use "test"), I put it in the workplace folder, but when I click finish, I get an error message.

Here's the error message:
Creation of element failed.

Reason:
Build path contains duplicate entry: *long complicated address that i couldn't copy on my clipboard*
I was just hoping one of you might be able to understand the problem, because I'm not quite clear on what a "build path" is.

PS: Yeah, so I did a google search, and found out that this is a bug others have experienced, and that there is a patch for it. I extracted the patch files into my eclipse folder - - but the bug is still there!

However, I found a way to get around it. After entering my project name, I just click finish, rather than click next. This seems to bypass the bug, but what happens in the future when I need to create a project that demands I click next to tinker with the defaults?

Have any of you been having issues recently with Firefox?

I'm a Mac user and since my last Firefox update I have had a couple of problems:
Gmail sometimes will not load on Firefox but does fine on every other browser I have.
Firefox no longer redirects automatically, I have to manually click, especially annoying while searching for flight information.

I will contact them if it continues, but just wanted to know if anyone else is having the same problems?

As part of the website I'm working on we have what can best be described as a blog. Only we update it by hand. The organizer generally edits a simple text file (txt) which is included in a PHP document. The problem is that he doesn't know HTML so he edits it as a document and I go in after and add line breaks and a few style elements.

I'm looking for a program I can give him so that he can type as normal but saves in HTML. If it's easy enough to use I can take care of the style stuff with CSS and probably show him how to upload it properly.

Art Explosion Publishing Pro, silver edition...I need a little help...

Hi, I purchased this program just 4 months ago and it took 2 months to install(had to keep waiting for replacement disks) I finally got it up and running and it's ok, I liked my Microsoft Picture it! better...
I had a couple of questions so I called Nova and they are no longer supporting this software...
I am not a graphic designer, just someone who enjoys making my own birthday cards, calendars and such. Is anyone familiar with this program?
The main irritant I am experiencing is when I am typing text, each and every first word of each line is automatically switched to a capital. Like this...
So then I have
To keep going
Back after I'm done
Typing and correct.
Is there somewhere I can turn this feature off? I've tried, but I don't understand some of the lingo!!
HELP!!

Firefox html validator extension failing?

For the benefit of the Firefox users that are also using the HTML Validator, they "fixed" a bug that causes it to fail in Firefox 3.09.
I was confused and befuddled when the Add-on crashed on me since a recent upgrade to ubuntu 9.04 and thought that the OS was failing, but it turns out to be Firefox's latest release that was causing the issue.
That's what I get for upgraded both Firefox and Ubuntu on the same day without testing each one separately.

Upgrades can be found here for all versions that the extension is available for.
here

The issue was crashing the Firefox browser when attempting to do a "view source". It seemed to only crash when there were errors or warnings on the page being inspected. Error/warning free pages worked fine.
