Validation errors

I just validated the html of a website of mine and found a whopping 152 errors! After my jaw had stopped bouncing on the keyboard, :o, I discovered that almost all were due to "Nonstandard SMGL characters 147, 148, 133, etc. These were ordinary quotation or apostrophes within normal

paragraphs. My doctype is as follows, and is something I just copy-paste as I don't really understand what the gobbeldygook means! Is this a setting on my computer that generates improper characters? I received the text from the client as Word documents, which I then copy-paste into notepad for HTML coding. HepMe! Alfie

Refresh Page at Specific Time of Day?

I'm looking for a way to refresh a page, not in time intervals, but at a certain time of the day. For instance, I want the page to refresh at 9 a.m. (server time) each day. Even better, I would like it to refresh about 5 seconds after 9 a.m. Is this possible?

Another Layer Issue

ww w.koo lertek.com The issue is IE6 this time. When you first load this page, you can see the arch just under the header which displays a splash (not flash) placeholder of a product and details. Once the page is fully loaded (loading the png fix is what it's doing) you will notice that it goes under the actual header wrap. The splash is position absolute and it works fine in all other browsers except IE6. Somehow the spash goes under the header but I am not sure where I might have missed something. I added a red border for id="splash" so you can see that the entire border first appears and then it get lost behind the id="hb-right" Eventually there will be a flash but I need to be able to resolve this first. Thanks.

Menu and Flash Issue

I have set some z-index to no avail. Any suggestions would be grateful.

Also, if by chance this does happen to you, please provide the Firefox version and what OS you are using. This does not occur in IE.

Hi, I am having this tiny issue - nothing major. I just finished designing a website, and published as HTML, however after uploading it to the server and running it over the web, it does not display the Header I would like it to be at the top of say for example Internet Explorer. It kind of worked when I edited the published HTML file and changed the header from index to the the preffered, but the website did not load. Now I did scour the HTML code in the Flash file to see if I can find that "index" header and change it, but with no luck. I am not sure if this is a Flash related query or a 3rd party or external query, as I know you can change the name of the published files before hand. I am using Flash Pro CS3. Any suggestions or help of some kind would be really appreciated. This is my first Flash website, I normally only do HTML. I did look at some turorials, but could not find anywhere where it covered this. Cheers

Two JavaScript functions assigned for one field I have a field “Email”; the user enters his email for newsletter subscription. I want to validate this form. If the user presses the button without entering email, he should have an alert to enter his email. If he presses the button after given a wrong email, then he should have an alert to write the correct email. How can I have these two functions on one filed?

Radio Button Help, need one button to disable other buttons

Hey guys, I have a "submit Support Ticket" form that is built up of about 20 radio buttons and all my services. Witch looks something like.. ( O represents a radio button ) Service Type: | O In home O Drop off ------------------------------------------------------------ Service: | O Computer repair | O othr service | O Other service | O wireless network setup Now, most of my services can be done both in home and by drop off. However things like wireless network setup must be done in home. I would like to make it so that when the user checks the "in home" box, they are not able to select these services. I have had a few ideas on how i could go about doing this but i would like some other opinions before i do anything. At the moment i have it return as a form error, so if they have checked say, "Drop Off" Service type.. and "wireless network setup" as the service. It submits the form but than sends the user back saying "Error this service cannot be done in home", id like it to happen before they submit the form. (this is also posted in javascript, but id really like to find a way to do it in php)

Hello, I have been trying to teach myself on how to design. I work for a comanpy that don't have in house desingers and would like to make a career move. I do plan to take course but right now I need to accomplish certaing thing to get the boss to notice. 1. I want to creat a website where our customer can download softwares. This will be a secure site that will only be allowed once they purchase our software. 2. Once they download software they have to request a license key- right now they emial it but would like for them to fill a forum insted. 3. Would like to creat ea forum similar to this forum that can be used by our Analyst and Techs that are in different office. What course do i need to take and can this be accomplished in the next 2 months. Thank you so much for your assistance.

PDF Link in Flash Website - Help Please

Hi, I am wanting to know if possible, and how to, add a link under a menu in Flash, so that when clicked on it, it open a .swf or .pdf document, forexample if you clicked on a hyperlink in a HTML website, it opens up a .pdf document. I have tried and searched for a solution online for the last 3 weeks, and is quite frankly fedup searching. I have tried creating a button and then inserting "Download PDF". I have tried to drag and drop the .swf documents, but then it is all over the place. Like I said, all I would like to do is have the name of the document, then as soon as someone clicks on it, it will either open up the swf or pdf or ask what they would liek to do. Even if I have to convert the pdf's to another format if swf is not useful, then that would so help me out heaps too. Cheers Jonny O
