How To Modify Opencart?

Hi there,

I found this forum a few days ago and have been browsing with interest but have not come across my answer yet. I'm by no means a programmer or a webdesigner etc but i can muddle through and learn what i need to quite quickly. I have two existing eccommerce sites using opencart. However, I am trying to set up a site which has a main 'shop' with multiple replicated shops selling 5 products all in subfolders (or directories? not sure of the term! sorry!). I need purchases from each of the shops to be paid either through the cart of the main shop, or directly to my paypal but need these purchases to be identify which shop they come from. I have tried wordpress with wpmu commerce..and last one i tried was drupal/drupal commerce. Wordpress was great but wouldnt quite do what i needed it too and drupal was way above my head ! Basically I'm hopnig for suggestions which are relatively straightforward to use and hopefulyl have existing modules to cover what i need??

Any ideas would be really appreciated !

Thanks

Hi,

subfolders (or directories? not sure of the term!

... Same thing, both are good.

About your job:

This is custom which most likely means you need a custom solution. That means you either have to hire a programmer/developer or you will have to become one.

I've never used OpenCart but I am guessing it is PHP based, so that means you have to learn some basic PHP and a little more. My rough guess is that you could learn to do this yourself in say two weeks ... assuming you just need to modify the code a little bit. It won't be beautiful, but you could hack it out ... since you say you know a little now and can learn quickly.

So I would suggest starting with beginners PHP and see if that is enough to allow you to modify the OpenCart software.

Oh well. I will leave it in place just in case someone else has this questions.
