Godaddy

I have a customer who ended up using godaddy as his hosting service. Now he is having problems with the e-mail function of the "contact Us" php based code. (I used Mail-Form)

It seemed to function all right for about a year.

I can't expect anyone here to just blame godaddy for poor service, but can you give me any feedback / comments on their service at all? Why are they so cheap?

Thanks! Alfie

Did the client just recently moved to Godaddy or was the mail script working ok back then? If it did work on Godaddy a year ago then you will need to check to see if GoDaddy updated the PHP version and compared that to the mail script you are using. The mail script may not support the latest PHP version.

Like Eddie said, it might be a PHP version issue, or perhaps GoDaddy has disabled a PHP function that the form uses? I'd try to contact GoDaddy support and see if they can help at all.

I tend to think that they are cheap because that's just their angle -- they sell you on cheap service and then try to upsell you on every little minor thing (even things that you don't need). I'm not a fan of GoDaddy, and it's the one host I discourage my clients from using. Just too many issues with customer services, with things not working, and with confusing/hard to use interfaces.

I once used Godaddy for hosting, too - and no longer do. I've had a couple clients who ran into serious issues with their Wordpress sites and moved elsewhere.

I do, however, use them for domain registration - no complaints from my end there.

Thanks Guys, and Andrea!

Turns out to be more complicated than originally thought. There was a serious question as to who was actually the host! But, according to my customer it is actually AN Hosting which I have used numerous times with excellent service! Perhaps WHOIS is slow to update and he may have used them in the past?

I shall post a new subject with links under "PHP" so perhaps you knowledgeable types can check out the form and script.

Thanks again!

Alfie
