Last night on the Comedy channel, John Stuart interviewed the chief foreign correspondent for CBS. She was witty and charming and left him with no real openings for comedy. She pointed out that more US troops have been killed in the last month or so in Afganistan than Iraq and no one reports it. Afganistan i still a very hot war with Taliban retaking cities they had lost and all that is reported is Iraq...

It was a sobering interview and left his sort of speachless. Woth viewing if you can find it... I caught it by chance so the details may be a bit off.

Gena,

No one and no country is perfect. I was in no way meaning the bash the US. And in fact, I have a lot of respect for the US.

I was just looking at the numbers ... as I do when I balance my check book, or when I make a business decision.

If I am guilty of anything, it is of being too 'cold' in my thinking.

... At least I've been accused of this.

But then again, my analytical, non emotional/ non ideological evaluation of things have served me well over the years. The greatest advantage is that I can easily change my opinion and direction based on new evidence.

I have to admit that was a bold post up there and somehow admirable at the same time. I live in the states. I love it here but I remain open minded to the fact that my country does some f*’d up stuff. I live in a nation of consumers. We consume as much as we can and thrive on materialistic items while bullying others for the “good” of the world (us). I wouldn’t mind seeing more posts like this from you a little more often.
